Since
I don't have all the cool tools that John
Coker has, I used the kid's monkey bars as a jig
while the West Systems epoxy is applied to the upper
bulk head.
Since I bought one extra "Quik
Tube," I used the spar as a coupler for the middle and top tubes. I
made the 24" long for extra stability. I simply cut them down the side with
a circular saw so that they fit within the body tubes.
I
took a PVC elbow and cut it in half. (right) The
Pixera camera will sit inside the PVC tube pointing
down eliminating the need for any mirrors. This is similar
to Dirk Gates camera hatch only smaller yielding
less aerodynamic drag.
This
is how I made the camera hatch frame. Looks like two
"smiley faces." These two arches were
screwed and glued inside the body tube with straight
pieces completing the frame. The altimeter bay door
will simply screw into the hatch door frame.
